The Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI) is the world’s largest network dedicated to deep-ocean science, policy, and stewardship. Established in 2013 to respond to growing human pressures on the deep ocean, DOSI was created as a global, inclusive platform to connect knowledge with decision-making and promote stewardship both within and beyond national boundaries. The DOSI mission is to integrate scientific and humanistic knowledge to inform deep-ocean policy, governance, and stewardship by engaging with policymakers, cultivating capacity and diplomacy, and creating community.

DOSI welcomes everyone who wishes to engage in deep-ocean stewardship.

  • Join the DOSI network to start your science-to-policy journey and share your knowledge to support the stewardship of the deep ocean.

  • Collaborate with DOSI and benefit from DOSI’s network of experts to support your deep-ocean work and policy decision-making.

  • Deepen your knowledge by diving into DOSI’s resources to learn more about the deep ocean and how you can help to advance its stewardship.

  • Fund DOSI’s work and become a champion for the deep ocean by supporting the DOSI mission and ensuring science has a voice in ocean governance.

The Thermal Ecology Alliance (TEA) is a global collaborative initiative aiming to bring together people committed to predicting, communicating, and mitigating the impacts of changing temperatures on biodiversity.

The impacts of climate change are accelerating at an unprecedented rate. Now, more than ever, we urgently need to build accurate predictions of the most vulnerable species and regions to design effective mitigation and conservation strategies. Through community-driven initiatives and open discussion, the Thermal Ecology Alliance works to collect high-quality data, resolve points of contention, build consensus, and spark innovations at unprecedented rates—giving us the power to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our generation.

📚 Category: Oceanography

🏷️ Topics include: Meteorology; Hydrology; Atmospheric Science; Climate Science

📍 Country/Region: Canada

The Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) is the national society of individuals and organisations dedicated to advancing atmospheric and oceanic sciences and related environmental disciplines in Canada. The Society’s aim is to promote meteorology and oceanography in Canada, and it is a major non-governmental organisation serving the interests of meteorologists, climatologists, oceanographers, limnologists, hydrologists and cryospheric scientists in Canada.

CMOS was officially created in 1967 as the Canadian Meteorological Society and adopted its present name in 1977, following an invitation by the Canadian Meteorological Society to the oceanographic community in Canada to join the Society. However, CMOS has a rich history dating back to 1939 when it was known as the Canadian Branch of the Royal Meteorological Society. The Society comprises over 700 members and subscribers, including students, corporations, institutions, and others who are involved in the educational functions, communications, the private sector and government. Membership is open to all who share an interest in atmospheric and oceanic sciences, their related sciences and applications.

The Society addresses a broad range of national and international meteorological and oceanographic concerns including weather and weather extremes, global warming, ozone depletion and surface air quality and their effects on all aspects of life in Canada including forestry, agriculture and fisheries. Special interest groups in the Society build communities of members with common interests.
