Join performance artist EM The Master and marine biologist Dr Max Bodmer at the intersection of art and science as they explore the weird and wonderful lives of the creatures that live just below the ocean surface.

Each week, songwriter and scuba diver EM The Master will present her wildly entertaining, ocean-centric songs to Max Bodmer, a ruthless doctor of marine ecology who gleefully tears her lyrics apart with his relentless fact-checking. But will Em fight back with justifications for her lyrics? Or will science prevail? Will she ever convince Max of the importance of rhyme and metaphor? Each episode, Em sings, Max fact-checks, and sparks fly as humour, metaphors, and a healthy dose of googling collide in a battle of artistic interpretation versus scientific truth.

Providing wild facts and fun insights for the ocean-curious, and striving to supply some levity for those working tirelessly for the ocean's protection, Deep Dive is for everyone. As two ocean-lovers, Em & Max endeavour to bring laughter, hope, and re-inspiration to all of us to take positive action for the ocean.

This feel-good comedy podcast shines a spotlight on some of this planet’s most fascinating and vulnerable organisms and highlights how we can help protect them. Expect laugh-out-loud moments, mind-blowing marine facts, and genuinely useful, small actions you can take to help the ocean. Will Em reclaim her status as Queen of the Ocean? Will Max ever loosen up? Deep Dive in and find out.

Voice of Commons

Category: Culture, Policy & Society; Marine Biology & Ecology; General Ocean Knowledge

Talks about: Coastal communities; Climate change; Environment/Sustainability; Indigenous knowledge & stewardship; Marine Science (general); Ocean Literacy; People & the Ocean; Policy; Seabed; Global Commons

Language: Italiano

Broadcasting from Venice – a city on the climate frontlines – Voice of Commons is a new podcast amplifying the voices of our Global Commons: Antarctica, the Ocean, the Atmosphere, and Outer Space. As we approach the 1.5°C threshold set by the Paris Agreement, destabilised Commons are triggering rising seas, mass displacement, and increasing ecological and geopolitical instability – yet they remain voiceless in global governance. They have no representation, no voice, and no vote in decisions shaping our collective future. Voice of Commons aims to change that.

Launched as a Special Project of La Biennale di Venezia and led by architect and activist Giulia Foscari, founder of UNLESS, Voice of Commons challenges existing governance models by building a transdisciplinary platform at the intersection of art, science, policy, and technology. Through conversations hosted by Giulia Foscari with global changemakers – from Sylvia Earle to Christiana Figueres, Johan Rockström, and Kumi Naidoo – the podcast fosters Global Commons literacy, sparks imagination for just and sustainable futures, and calls to action for intergenerational justice.

Part of a broader global advocacy initiative, the podcast is joined by the Speak-Up for the Commons campaign – inviting grassroots participation – and a Petition calling for the legal and political recognition of the Commons and the establishment of a Global Commons Assembly.

All are catalysed from the Voice of Commons’ Planetary Embassy in Venice, where each day representatives from Indigenous communities, nation-states, or stateless nations take the stage to lend their voices to the Commons – building, together, a planetary Constituency to ensure a safe and operating space on Planet Earth for All-kind.
